0.2 Announcement

Public Beta
Now available!


Welcome to our biggest, baddest, most awesome update yet! We've toiled extensively to bring you fantastic new features and much-needed bug fixes. Check out the full list below!

As there's been an extensive number of changes, as well as a great many features, we're giving scripters, server hosters, and curious bystanders early access to the 0.2 client and server, so that your favourite servers can give you the best possible experience on release. For everyone else, don't fret; we'll have the final version out for your enjoyment once we've worked out all the kinks.

You can opt-in to the publicbeta branch in the Betas tab. Do not switch to this branch unless you are willing to actively help find issues and prepare your scripts for the release. If you don't know how to switch to the branch, we advise you wait for the official release.

Note that this will lock you out of all 0.1.4 servers; if you need to regain access, simply switch back to "NONE - Opt out of all beta programs."

OK so not only do you folks continue to impress me with all the work you've done but this reminds me that I've never taken the time to thank you for getting players off of my back during beta. First public beta I was getting harassed and being called 'furfag' a lot and you folks were quick to put a stop to it. Given how busy you were with testing I appreciated you taking the time to do that. It was very classy of you.

Good luck with the upcoming beta and with this mod. This along with the Star Wars:Kotor restored content mod and Torchlight II:Synergies are some of the best mods I've ever seen.

Sounds awesome, I can't wait! The only thing I feel that has ever put JC-MP at all behind other games is the lack of NPCs. Now that we can have NPCs it could become the next GTA Online. :) Just imagine like writing heists and things with NPC enemies, or the police chasing you, etc.

Now I wonder to what extent the NPC system is... can they be enabled and walking around like in singleplayer, cars driving around, etc., using the singleplayer pathfinding and routes, or must it all be programmed? Say if you shoot those pedestrians, etc., will the police come after you?

It's just a json file with details about the script, like the name, description, author, and the author's url. In the future it could be used for custom load order of files within your script, or perhaps, workshop dependencies (which was the original idea behind the metadata files before that feature was put on indefinite pause).

FYI:

I've had more than one request to make Wingsuit a bit more realistic, so I added an optional realism mode. It's disabled by default and can only be toggled in the script.

To enable realism mode, change self.realism to true. This mode prevents players from changing speed while gliding and causes them to lose altitude over time. Realism mode also requires players to already be skydiving before they activate the wingsuit.

The server-side debugger portion is complete, but we're still finishing up the client side modifications. We will provide a link with the official 0.2 release (or when we get a build ready to publish).

Hang around on IRC and bug me, maybe you can test it  ;D

Really simple, just get in a vehicle and use it.  Doesn't work with motorcycles or air vehicles.  Most of the time it will remove oxygen from you but sometimes it won't.  And then of course you'll be stuck in your car because your base state was changed.

What are you asking?

If you've set up a fresh server it will automatically be the latest version.
