We hope to welcome you to another roadtrip sponsored by and hosted on Gaveroid’s Scavenger

Hunt server, and designed and coordinated by our Mod, TheStuffJunky.

Sunday July 5th @ 3pm EDT

Welcome to the Gaveroid Panauja 2015.  This roadtrip will pit your skills of offroad pre-runner
style driving.  Using Jeeps and trucks (or whatever your fancy), you will spend a lot of time
using boost to maintain your balance on many uphill, on-edge cliff climbs, and drifting abilities
in very sharp cornering.  But, most importantly, this roadtrip will show off your skills of having
fun.

We start our adventure at the bottom of a mountain ridge south-west of desert airport 2 – this will
be the most difficult leg of the roadtrip.  When we reach the top of the mountain, we hook a
slight left and launch off towards the radar facility.  We drive up through the north-west desert
for about 5km to a military base and launch our vehicles towards the small lake.  We then cut
across central desert for a few kilometers and reach the northern part of the desert river and
cruise down the river, make a few lefts and rights, and launch our boats off at a small village in
south-central desert.  We then head for the swamps to cool off from the desert heat and drive
through some unmarked swamp roads eventually meeting mid-east shoreline for a short break.
After our break, we head through some more trees and cut westward through central desert for a
‘going for speed’ run and take a short climb up to desert airport 1.  We ‘free for all’ north-east to
another military base and take another small launch towards the river.  Across the river, we get
our vehicles and head south for another ‘free for all’-like ride to desert ship.  A few more lefts,
rights, jumps, and lost vehicles, we find ourselves at another village and take a big launch (near
where we launched our boats) and scale another mountain cliff.  At the top of the mountain,
where we started, we all launch and boost as hard as we can.

You can find a map showing the route we will be taking and the vehicles we will use here.

Looking forward to seeing you all at

Scripting support / Video tutorials
« on: February 16, 2015, 06:46:59 pm »
Someone brought up the idea for me to make video tutorials for scripting in lua for jc-mp. This would mean video's on how to use Render, Player values, etc. Many scripters don't know how this works exactly and I'd gladly help them out by making very detailed tutorials about it.

If this gets enough votes and comments, I'll get working on them :D

Suggestions / Clientside GetWeatherSeverity()
« on: January 11, 2015, 09:42:35 pm »
Developers, I know you are not actively developing this mod, but this small thing really needs to be added. If I want to get weather now, I constantly need to use the network to fetch it.

Community Projects / Freeroam Fun Server files
« on: July 29, 2014, 11:27:01 pm »
Some of you know, some don't, but I am stopping my server. That does not mean I am gone, but only that my server will not be there anymore very soon.
Because I love to share, I decided to take all my server files, wrap them in a nice fileformat and uploaded it to dropbox.

Anyone who wants may use these files to run a replica of my server now. Enjoy :)

Also, for the full message on why i close it, read this:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/freeroamfunserver#announcements/detail/233377432141513558

Update: the message above is not accurate anymore and therefore I will not send my server files at the moment. Please read my last message in this thread for more information.

Releases / [RELEASE] Join/Leave notifier using in-game UI v1.1
« on: May 09, 2014, 03:56:00 pm »
When JC-MP came out we soon had a system that notified us of joining and leaving players in the server through the chat system. Many servers disabled it because it was spamming the chat when a lot of people joined.

I realised a few days ago that there was never a script released with the solution to that: Use of the in-game UI to show who joins and leaves the server.

Because I think this script would be a nice addition to every server and to show the use of the popup system(you can see it in the BountiesPlus script too) I decided to make it and share it with all of you.

I hope you guys like the script. Have fun with it :D

Update 1.1:
Script now runs on client side only

Releases / [RELEASE] Suicide bombing, a new way of killing players!
« on: May 02, 2014, 06:43:32 pm »
Along with a few other scripters I am releasing some scripts today.I have been running these scripts on the Freeroam Fun Server for a while now. These script are not very special and only consist of a few lines of code, but I am sure people will like them finally being released.

This is a script that has been solely running on my server the past few weeks and players really enjoyed messing around with it:

Suicide

Always wanted to stand in a group of players and blow up yourself and your surrounding players? Then you might want to try this script!
All you have to do is type /suicide and you will explode along with your near surroundings!
The bigger explosions did not cause enough damage to players and I wanted to avoid heavy abuse. Because of this the blast radius is quite small and you should stand very near others to kill/damage them

When this script is running on your server, players will soon understand that if someone suddenly stands really near to them, they should run away or accept death  8)

Have fun blowing up yourself and others!
(TIP: you can suicide even when you are already in the deathcam. How high can you get before you see the loading screen?)

Releases / [RELEASE] Gibs on death from the 0.1.4 announcement
« on: May 02, 2014, 06:40:39 pm »
Along with a few other scripters I am releasing some scripts today.I have been running these scripts on the Freeroam Fun Server for a while now. These script are not very special and only consist of a few lines of code, but I am sure people will like them finally being released.

This script is again one we have seen in action in the 0.1.4 announcement video:

Gibs on death

What this script does is spawning gibs on the location of the player when you die. By default the players nearby AND the player that gets killed will see the gibs, but you can easily remove on of the lines in the server file to change that.

Please note: When testing it on my server I experienced that showing gibs for both sides might cause players to crash more often, so if you experience this you might want to change this.

Enjoy the gore :D

Releases / [RELEASE] Poof on TP from the 0.1.4 announcement

This script is one we saw in action in the video of the 0.1.4 announcement:

Poof on TP

This script spawns a ninja poof effect at the player's position when the player teleports to someone else. It is basicly an altered version of the warptoPlayer script by beatles1 which was released almost instantly after the 0.1.0 release.

The script is very easy and it is not hard to change the effect to something else.

Have fun with it!

Suggestions / Custom loading screen
« on: April 18, 2014, 08:25:29 am »
This may seem a bit useless, but it serves like a first impression.
A custom loading screen would make JCMP feel less generic since every server has a different one.

Just a suggestion. Would be cool

JC2-MP / The Freeroam Fun Server is back!
« on: April 01, 2014, 12:42:13 pm »
Two days ago the Freeroam Fun Server was shutdown due to too many DDoS attacks in a short time. I have been looking for a new host and since yesterday evening we are up and running again! Our new IP is 37.187.177.140:7777 and you can find us in the serverbrowser under the same name.

So people who were thinking it was a different server using our name: it is actually the real one :)

Hope to see you again in our server soon!

JC2-MP / Tired of DDoS attacks
« on: March 29, 2014, 09:09:46 pm »
A few hours ago my server was DDoSed and I think I was not the only one who had this.
I don't care if this is a useless post or not, but I am sick and tired of these damn attacks. Why do people need to be so extremely childish?
Do you even know what this means in the end? Well for me it means my service will be terminated if it happens too much!

Yeah, ofcourse you can say everyone should be using a DDoS protected service, but what if those are too expensive and the only possible option is not possible? I am sure I am not the only one and if someone who ever DDoSed a server reads this: I hate you!
That's all I have to say. If a dev wants to remove this, go ahead. I don't mean to have any trouble with this.

Scripting support / Disable nametags in a specific world
« on: February 17, 2014, 04:37:47 pm »
I'd like to disable nametags in just one world. Now I know how to check if the player is in DefaultWorld, but is there a way to make a different world to check for?

So instead of if player:GetWorld ~= DefaultWorld (iknow, not the correct code, but i assume it is clear what i mean)
Can I create something so I can do if player:GetWorld ~= ParralelWorld
?

Releases / [Release] Party Mode
« on: January 16, 2014, 05:50:39 pm »
This script is based on the Manhunt script that was released a few weeks ago.
It is pretty useless, but can be fun when alot of people join it. There is a party script for ZED aswell, but some people, like me, don't have it and cannot use that script. This one is the solution to that

Type /party to spawn as a stripper with bubbleguns above the Mile High Club. type it again to get back to the default world with your previous outfit and inventory.

Installation:
Download the .zip from the Github page, extract it and put the jc2mp-party folder inside your scripts folder.

Download: https://github.com/misterff1/jc2mp-party/

Enjoy!

Troubleshooting / [FIX] How to stop the crashes!
« on: January 12, 2014, 12:22:34 am »
Don't know if this has been said before, but I found a way to stop the constant crashes:
Disable steam overlay! I noticed that the more I used the overlay, the quicker my game crashed. Now I disabled it completely and it never crashes anymore!

I know this is not the ideal solution, but it is a good temp fix.
Let me know if it worked for you too!

Scripting / buymenu with whitelist?
« on: January 09, 2014, 06:25:25 pm »
Is there anyone who can help me make a buymenu with whitelist? All I need is that option in the basic buymenu script.

I am in a bit of a hurry in this one, so if someone could make it that would be great!
