Community Projects / Just Cause 3 COMMUNITY CHALLENGES
« on: January 01, 2016, 02:32:26 am »
Hello everyone,

I'm dab88 and I help run the Unofficial Just Cause 3 Steam Group: (JOIN ALREADY!)

COMMUNITY CHALLENGES! are a fun way of bringing the community together to play and hone their skills (in anticipation of Just Cause3 Multiplayer!)

Whether you're playing for fun or serious competition everyone is welcome to participate! Contribute in the discussions here in the JCMP forums or over in the Steam group

Video descriptions of the challenges & examples will be posted on my channel at

REMEMBER: these challenges are a way of bringing the community together and although some may be competitive based, winning is NOT the goal. There will different types of challenge with some being less competitive and more creative. Progressing your own abilities, coming up with exciting new ideas and cultivating a supportive community of players is what this is all about!

Please share this group with others so we can grow a community of fans which will be ideal when Just Cause 3 Multiplayer comes out!

6 months ago Darth Nihilus challenged me to recreate one of the Just Cause 3 trailers using only Just Cause 2 Mulitplayer. It's been a long journey full of obstacles but it's finally here. I hope you enjoy it.

It's taken the collaboration of many JC2MP fans to bring this to you and I'd like to take the time to thank them all. In no particular order, thanks to Darth Nihilus for the idea. Thanks to SubZero for acting out all the various roles and his never ending patience with me. Thanks to Sinister Rectus for providing a custom server in which to shoot many of the scenes as well as much needed extra actor. Thanks to Jman100 for server support and making everything more difficult by using silly skybox backgrounds. Thanks to Philpax for the camhack mod. Thanks to Mikey JR & bordmouse for extra actors. Thanks to Urik Kane for the unbelievable awesome graphics at the end- they are truly the icing on the cake! Finally thanks to the developers of Just Cause 2 Multiplayer (JC2MP) and everyone at Avalanche that helped to create Just Cause 2. Without the base game there would be no multiplayer mod, and without the mod there would be no way of producing this kind of machinima video. Thank you all for following your passions and allowing me to follow mine!

This project has probably been the longest I've ever worked on a video that didn't involve stunts. From the initial stages it has been a long, drawn out process. Just deciding if it was possible and worth the effort took a couple of months. Then I had to decide which of the JC3 Trailers to re-create (there were many varied ones to choose from). After settling on the "Gameplay Reveal Trailer" the painstaking, time consuming process of time stamping and logging details of every single scene began. Thumbnail screenshots for every scene were also produced as reference material during the planning stages. All this effort was supposed to make the shooting process easier. I hate to think how long it would've taken without all that planning! Shooting the scenes started in early September and finished at the end of November. Life got in the way as it usually does, along with a myriad of problems involving camera angles, missing features from particular servers and other complex logistical problems occurred regularly to delay the final trailers release until today. I'm glad it's finished. Thanks again to everyone involved.

Community Projects / Air Propulsion Stunts
« on: November 08, 2013, 11:24:15 pm »
Hey, so I've started a new stunt series based around experiments with the air propulsion gun. Just got a couple of episodes up so far but more to come soon:

Series Intro:
Part 1:
Part 2:
Part 3:
Part 4:
Part 5:
Part 6:
Part 7:
Part 8:
Part 9:

As always I try to keep stunts possible without using any mods, although for ease of setting up/capturing footage I used bolopatch to edit cash and give infinite ammo.

Community Projects / BIGair Jump Series
« on: July 08, 2013, 11:45:15 pm »
Using the boost in JCMP means huge jumps are possible and I've produced a series of videos showing what's possible so far.

BIGAIR jump #1 :

BIGAIR jump #2 :

BIGAIR jump #3 :

BIGAIR jump #4 :

BIGAIR jump #5 :

BIGAIR jump #6 :

BIGAIR jump #10 :

BIGAIR jump #11

BIGAIR jumps #12-14 :

BIGAIR jumps #15-16 :

BIGAIR jump #17 :

BIGAIR jump #18 :

PS I'm thinking about drawing a map/list of jump locations in the future. If you know of any good jumps gimme as much info as possible and I'll check it out. Info that would be useful include some (accurate) co-ords, description (e.g wooden ramp, grassy mound), screenshots etc. Hopefully with a bit of time and effort we can have a huge list of jumps to use for some BIGair action!!!

JC2-MP / Feedback/comments - April week-long test
« on: April 22, 2013, 01:39:51 pm »
Jethud- very cool! Only problem was the way the camera was restricted (probably to allow the hud to make sense and actually work)

New nametags: again nice additions. I would change the dot to a triangle though..... it's too easy to mistake a map feature or a piece of scenery for a dot/player

Banking/cash system: works much better now that it's automatic. I like the visual display of your $ gains :) Getting money is tough without factions though.

Races: I entered a few and they were fun as always (and much more stable). Though I was disappointed to enter Limosine Clusterfuck and not even have a vehicle spawn for me! Getting into a race is almost as difficult as finishing one! The arrows in the circles is a very useful addition.

User Interface: the menu system is great. Being able to access all the models and buy menus is fantastic.

Factions: broken a lot of the time. Felt like a step backward when they weren't working. Meaning you end up spending most of your time 'meeting' up with other people. Things were great when factions were on.

Spawn protection (a little ugly) worked pretty well for the most part. There were a few bugs where you could spam rockets and get kills or walk into the spawn protection while firing and be able to keep firing. Gave a nice refuge for a few mins where you could chat and organise things- which was very useful.

Loading screens are very pretty!

Didnt get a chance to use the faction waypoint command but the in-game base map was nice to see... although I found it kinda useless as it was too small to read any of the info. Also, the lack of nearby landmarks on the map make it difficult to locate bases.

Community Projects / Just Cause 2 in the Movies

What if Just Cause 2 was a movie? Which one would it be?

I've done some amateur photshop (using GIMP) to rework some Hollywood movie posters. I may do a few more since there's no testing at the moment :( Feel free to add your own submissions!

Random / Australia- list all the great things

As the title suggest, list something great from Australia.

I'll start with the obvious.... Just Cause 2 Multiplayer  ;D

That was too easy, how about the Drones? -

Bug reports / 15/16th Sep JCMP BETA Feedback
« on: September 17, 2012, 06:07:29 pm »
So I've played JCMP for the past two betas accumulating 40+ hours and have come across a number of strange oddities. I don't know if any of these would be regarded as 'bugs' but would like to share my feedback anyway.

1. Undiscovered settlement- all of the settlements have been uncovered in JCMP... apart from Tasik Kasauri (x17973 y23110). I have verified this across several different players.

2. Teleport failure- falling through the ground upon teleport happens to me a lot. It mostly happens when I'm eager to move and am holding a direction- I just end up falling through the ground and have to to /tp again but it also seems to happen when a lot of other people are teleporting there too e.g. dish.

3. Getting stuck in vehicles- this has been covered in many topics.

4. Vehicle telport- weirdest thing to have happened to me yet. I /tp'd to dish during a derby and got in a jeep. Next to the jeep was a guys head like he was stood 4ft under ground and only his head sticking out the ground. When I got in the vehicle I was teleported to the middle of the dish and was instantly fired into the air spinning like a top. I smashed against the mountain but managed to get out just in time.

5. Getting shot in Stunt position- I often find I get shot while in stunt position when there is nobody around arart from otherss in stunt position- is it they who are shooting me? I never seem to be able to shoot others when they are on the same vehicle as me.

6. Kill delays- often a kill, especially a sniper shot will not register the kill forseveral noticable seconds.

7. The waterfall /tp point ditched you stright into the water taking a while and a chunk of life before you reach the bottom. It would be a good location for a game mode- King of the Casino. Just have a faction on each tower and let the battle commence. The /tp point would have to be changed for this to work.

8. Weapon sync- it seems so random. I always seem to lose out in a shotgun battle even when I'm diving around (are the diving/rolling animations synced?) I often lose all my health before registering a hit. Where am I supposed to aim? At them or in front? I find their is an auto aim box but it is so small you have to be aiming right at the character so it's kind of useless (although I find when the aitoaim box is centered in the character and I shoot- there will definitely be a hit registered! Which is awesome progress)

9. Flying and setting a waypoint on the map are unnecesarily dangerous- is there a way of fixing the flight controls so they are not operable during map mode? Typing in general is dangerous- shame there wasn't some kind of protection.

10. Factions could do with having some kind of friendly fire toggle and also admin priviledges. This would be good for traitors as they couldnt kill their own faction and also allows for groups to have a fairer contest against low numbers of opponents (as the faction wont end up killing eachother in the gun fight)

11. Dome. Teleporting to the dome results in being stuck under the ground/dome. The only way to escape is to die and spawn in the dome or exit the dome.

12. Vehicle Health. Ok so I'm really happy with how much progress there is on hit detection when it comes to pvp but when in vehicles it really does feel like a blind man throwing marbles at a bean bag, hoping it will exentually explode. Is there any way to sync up vehicle health? If so can we please geta second bar to illustrate vehicle health? it could be placed above the drivers green health bar, wouldnt take up much room and give valuable feedback to the player when atticking via a vehicle.

13. Tyres? Am I right in thinking you've synced vehicle tyres? Mine were shot out on a number of occassions during this test by others. I never noticed it happening in the last one!

14. Console commands. In the readme it specifies to remove any startup console commands from JC2. Well I did but I put them in the JCMP dialog box instead- is this ok? I only use -hbao=0 povfactor=1.6 framratecap=30. Are these compatible with JCMP?

Overall, excellent work devs! The sync has improved a lot- I experienced very little lag even in the busiest areas which is a real improvement over last time (I remember the dish beig a pain during last test- not this time though! cars styed where they were and didnt dance arond the screen!). I like the new faction scripting although it does need tweaking. My game seemed to crash more this time than last test- not sure why- there was no obvious reason. I am really enjoying spending time in Panau! Great work guys- keep it up!
