Just Cause 3 / JC3 XL Version Yes or No?

I'm very unsure whether I should preorder JC3 or not. The offer seems tempting, but more than 60 bucks seems kinda expensive.
I would wait for the steam winter sale, so I could but it after it's released, but I'd miss out the 3 preorder cars+ the sniper rifle. I wouldn't mind if it will be available for purchase after the release, but I can't be certain.
The XL version includes some parachutes and upcoming mission n stuff. I think it can always be bought later on. Especially because we don't even know what will be in it.


Right now I'm thinking about just buying the standart version to get the preorder stuff. What's your opinion?

JC2-MP / Achievement Hunt Event!

I think it's a nice idea to get everyone together and collect them (especially the 3000 kills), while ahving some fun.

We'll be doing deathmatches, all terrain roadtrips, basejumps.

Hi there^^
I'll be blunt: I'm curious if the Dev Team will be creating a mp mod for JC3 as well.

Here's my honest opinion:

JC2 was a big success mostly because of the multiplayer mod. Before the mp, the community was very small and the game had nothing that kept the players coming back. I never heard of the game before when I first heard of the beta tests, like most people and it would've stayed that way, if our beloved devs wouldn't have created this mod.
Let's face it: JC2's story mode was nothing extraordinary (but great fun, because you blow stuff up like always :D ) and the beautiful map gets boring if there isn't anything fun to do anymore.
What really kept the people hooked was the crazy chaos and the ability to play with hundreds of players on one server.

Now the mod is out and everyone is enjoying the mp, but with JC3 coming soon, what will happen?

Right now, the mod's in a bugfix / maintenance state. We'll push out updates to fix major bugs / issues / exploits that turn up, but we're not actively developing any new features right now. We're currently evaluating what our plans for this year will be; obviously, JC3 has thrown a spanner in the works :P

Hopefully, we'll have more to say soon.

My Question would be if you devs are considering creating JC3MP. As far as I can see there are pros and cons, so let me point them out:

First of all, you've alredy got a mp mod running which need maintenance as Philpax said before. Modding JC3 would mean to neglect JC2MP, since you can only concentrate on one thing with the little precious time you have.

Furthermore, it would be easier to continue staying with JC2, since you've invested hours and hours into coding and playing it, making you experts. The article that FKids posted, noted, that you weren't able to make complete use of the code, since you didn't have the original code of the game and had to make the best of what you had. That may chance once JC3 is out. You already proved once that you can create a working mp mod. Avalance might be a bit more forthcoming to modders. In the end they want to keep their community happy. That'd mean easier/quicker/more stable scripts and maybe even a better understanding of game mechanics. Having worked on JC2 obviously gives a certain knowledge that can come in handy when working with JC3.

In my opinion, sticking with JC2MP would be a waste, since not many people are playing JC2 anymore and that number will decrease even more after JC3 is released. It's the hype that gives JC3 this much popularity and why not use the momentum to gain a constant playerbase with a mp mod?
Another point is, that the players and maybe even the devs got tired of JC2. No matter how great it is, we all need a bit of change. If JC3 really turns out to be a great game, why not go with it? I mean we all love JC2 and we all had plans to do so many things, but it had it's limitations. Maybe JC3 will be the key to unlock and surpass these limits, opening new possibilities.

I can imagine that it's a hard decision for the devs to let go of the mod they've put so much work into. Like raising a child. I'm just speculating, but JC3 might turn out much better than its successor. All we need to do is take a step forward.

At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself, if it's even worth it creating a mod...again.
Spending free time on something that won't even give you money may seem like a terrible idea, but I am (like many many others who still play this mod) very grateful that this mod exists thanks to your hard work. Seeing a mod for JC3 would be a dream come true.

Whatever your decision is, I'm thankful for all you've done. I had a great time playing this mod :D

No, really. Is it?

Because it seems to me that the big hype is gone a long time ago.

Why? Here's my theory:

With the release of jcmp on steam people went crazy! It was like a present of the gods appeared before us, as we saw the announcement. The long awaited release came with all sorts of new shit like improvements and bug fixes and people were excited. Everyone thought jcmp is gonna get bigger as it was already in the beta tests.
It was big as hell! Thousands of players were playing...for a week or two...maybe a couple months...
Then, the inevitable happened. The player count went down.
Why?
Jcmp is a game that relies on causing havoc. Blowing shit up, the dream of everyone.
During the beta tests, everyone was forced to join one single server that held up thousands of players at once.
Naturally, jc2 has a huge map, but with such a high player count, people were bound to meet sooner or later. One of these places was panau international airport (or simply airport1). It was the centre of hillarious destruction and killing. People made friends and foes.
With the release, there were more servers than players, which resulted in a poor player count per server (even the popular ones).
It was understandable, wanting to play on your own server because you can get a rest from all the chaos but sooner or later it got boring.
The actual essence of jcmp was gone. The beta days were over. Yes, it was a pain in the ass to crash every knce in a while and there was poor sync, but people didnt give a shit about that because they were enjoying themselves.
We were dreaming of servers with super great gamemodes, but in the end, we had fun with the stuff we orgsnized on our own. Faction wars was a great hype, but once it was there, nobody cared about it really, since jcmp wasnt desingned to be an ego shooter type game.

So here we are now, having less than a hundred players per server, while the beta server was loaded.
We have all the fancy gamemodes now, but noone is there to play them, really (e.g. factionwars).
Even the forums are dead. I only see the same old posts about some "useless" scripts and nothing else, while during beta people were loaded with ideas, projects and all that shit. The motivation went totally down.

Now, i dont simply wanna complain that jcmp has gotten worse, but i'd love to revive the spirit of this community i had so much fun with. I've played this game so much with joy, that it hurts to see it turn into a forgotten piece of work.
I'm not really sure how to get the old community back, but i'm sure once something gets started, more and more people will join.
From a logical point of view, I'd suggest creating an "official" jcmp server. 1 server for all. It will bring back thr chaos we used to love so much (hopefull).

As you may have noticed from my rather brief writing about changing the situation, I'm having doubts myself. Thats why I'd like to hear anyone's opinion on this.
Am I right? Or am I totally exagerrating and everythings fine?
I can only say for sure that the "fun" in jcmp is long gone for me.

It's finally time to roam the map of panau again.

Celebrating the upcoming release, we (the roadtrippers) are starting a big event on the first day of the test.
The event will include activities such as: skydiving/base jumping, airtrips, roadtrips, stunting, deathmatches, derbys,racing, etc. Including all gamemodes created by the devs as well as gamemodes we created on our own (such as busted). Anyone reading this post is welcome to join this event.
Feel free to add your ideas, which we may include in the event.

The event starts around 4 hours after the test starts. The exact time may vary, since the server might be instable at the beginning of the test.

We'll be communicating over teamspeak and steam chat.

The teamspeak server ip will be released on the day of the test over the steam group.

The release of the multiplayer is getting closer and with the release there are possibilities to implement mods to servers.

My question to you is: Which skins should be implemented? (Rico skins and modifications of other player models). Which is your favourite skin?

I haven't tried all of them yet, so I'm posting these, which seem to have good results. Feel free to give them a try and comment what you think.

Factions / Roadtrip faction PAROFED

Since I had a lot of requests creating a thread for our faction, I decided to let everyone know that we exist :D

Just a small note upfront: "roadtrip" was created since the faction system was introduced and has been active ever since. Some tests ago, there were 2 roadtrip groups "JCMPTC"(Just cause multiplayer test chat) and "PAROFED". These two group merged and decided to have "PAROFED" (Panaun roadtrip federation) as the primary roadtrip group. We've been roadtripping together ever since and having a lot of fun.

We drive vehicles and stuff around Panau on the longest routes we can find, hilarity ensues, feel free to join our team of non-professional tour guides on a quest around this island of a thousand terrains!
We don't only do roadtrips, but also do spontaneous events and gamemodes together.

This pretty much sums it up. We are a faction of few words :P

Just Cause 2 / trouble with fraps

hey guys :D

I used to record my singleplayer and multiplayer moments with Fraps since I got the game, but now it won't work on Just Cause 2. Any other game just works fine without problems. When I start up the game the fps counter in not there and when I try to record something, the video ends up playing the game sound with a black screen. really annoying  >:( I use mods, but I tried it woithout them, so it's something about the game.

Has anyone experienced this problem before?

The /buy option was implemented with the new test. It should function as some kind of "black market" and it worked ok...., but I wonder why the devs did it that way. It's cool that we're getting a chance to buy thing, but why not use the normal black market, which is implemented in the game? The banking system is another thing, but the money you'd earn could be added to your black market account. It would be easier to use, because we are familiar with it.
This is just a question. I'm just interested why the devs would go that way.

I thought about a REALLY REALLY REALLY BIG EVENT WITH ALL FACTIONS! Yes I know that some factions got problems with each other. Maybe you don't like certain players from a faction and stuff, but the thing is: Why should the devs be the only ones who can create an event for the whole server? I mean around 90% of JC MP players belong to a faction. If we ALL gather at some destination and do a really cool event, that would really make my day and I'm sure that it would be great for all of us.

Now I know what you are thinking: "Good idea, but how do you wanna organize such a big event all by yourself huh?"
The answer: I'm not^^. I would get mad if I have to organize more than 100 people :D
It would be problematic too for all faction members when there is suddenly some new guys that is telling you what to do.
The solution: Every faction has it's leader(s). Although a factions are gathering up at the destination, we will be subcategorized in our own beloved groups^^ Every faction is lead my it's leader, what means that the leader takes full responsibility for his men. If a group starts attacking others, the faction leader has to deal with the problems that come with it.

"how do you want to communicate, when everyone is parted in factions?"
Answer: steam chat. Idon't want to join any steam chat from any other faction and I'm pretty sure you don't want to do it either, because of various reasons. We will just use the "just cause 2 multiplayer" group chat. It's neutral and accessable for everyone. And btw EVERYONE who participates, should join, to know what do do n stuff.

The only question that is left: Dude, what are you planning to do with such a big group?

Answer: LOL no idea xD I thought about some cool things like skydive, meeting up at the derby, or a really really big WAR with all kinds of vehicles. Thing is: I need IDEAS! Tell me what we should do with such a big amount of people. I'm sure we will find something what everybody will enjoy.
