Guest forum / Read before posting: Browser/addon issues

There is something weird going on with Firefox and a certain addon or setting. No one has ever followed up on my posts, so I have no idea what exactly is causing it. Just be sure to try in a different browser and without addons before posting.

We are only looking for suggestions in regards to the client, server, website and Lua scripting.

Gamemodes and scripts are not up to us to create, it's up to the community (which includes you!) to create awesome scripts using the many functions and events we've exposed through Lua. For more information please check our documentation.

Archived / Public beta test #15 changelog
« on: July 24, 2013, 01:28:06 pm »
With JC2-MP approaching release we've decided to dedicate this public test to test all of our Lua scripting functionality by running the Faction Wars gamemode. Not only does this extensively use nearly every scripting function we have, it's also very exciting to play!

You'll be trying to capture all of the 370 bases to gain vehicles, money and reputation. Unfortunately, the competing factions will be trying to do the same so it's up to your faction to protect existing bases at the same time!

As always, you can find a countdown on our homepage and a list of local times on our website.

And now, the changelogs for the previous build, and this test:

0.0.14 Changelog

    Client

Replaced Direct2D-based renderer with a DirectX 10-based renderer that utilizes dreadmullet's TextReindeer text renderer, massively increasing performance

    Lua
Mouse cursor position and visibility control functions added
       Game input manipulation functions added
Added Client:GetStreamedPlayers() to return players that are near the local player, allowing for a much smaller list of players to be iterated

Bug Fixes:

Fixed crash if a chat autocompletion was attempted during server connection
Fixed invalid weapons crashing the client

    Shared
    Lua
Refactored Lua API to be more consistent

0.0.15 Changelog

Bug Fixes:
    Client
Fixed rare crash bug with hooked DirectX creation
Fixed GWEN not handling resolution resizing
       Fixed Image memory leaks

    Server
Fixed bug where a 64-bit pointer was truncated to 32-bit in Lua, causing server crashes

    Shared
Fixed Lua player:GetSteamId being invalidated post-disconnect

As you can see, this build's mostly bug-fixes: the exciting part is the script.
This test's going to bring out the big guns - we hope to see you playing this weekend! :)

Archived / Test ending at the usual time
« on: July 01, 2013, 07:40:29 am »
This weekend's beta test will be ending at the normal time - 48 hours after the start. While we were hoping to extend it to compensate for the downtime, our server with basic DDoS protection costs us around 86 USD every 24 hours. The team agreed that extending the test wouldn't be the best use of your donations, as we could use the time to work on the many issues that were found this weekend.

We're going to work on the FPS issues and some common crashes you guys have encountered; if all goes to plan, we hope to run another beta test next weekend. Please note that this is not a guarantee; depending on circumstances, it may take longer than a week. Thanks again for your continued support and donations and we hope to see you in Panau again soon!

Archived / Testing is over! And a note for pirates.. [8th of July]
« on: July 08, 2012, 10:03:49 pm »
Thank you for testing! We got many useful crash reports that we are going to process and fix. Once we think most should be fixed, there will be another test which will be announced everywhere. This third public test has already shown a massive improvement in stability. There have been way less crashes and with the new launcher, a lot more people were able to join.

People with pirated copies have most likely noticed that they can play the betas without any issues. This is on purpose. We want to have as many crash reports as possible to improve the mod. However, when the mod is officially released, nearly all servers will require you to have a legit copy of the game. This is mainly to allow the server owners to ban by steam ID - completely blocking ban evasion and preventing cheaters from ruining the game again once banned.

This is why we ask you to buy JC2. Not just to be able to play JC2-MP, but to support the huge investment and costs involved in putting out a title like this. The freeroam, features and chaos in JC2 are simply unbeaten by any other game and the game is worth every single penny. The game has already dropped from 50 euro to below 10 euro, there is simply not an excuse to keep pirating it. Remember: you can buy it anywhere, any legitimate copy is added to Steam. This includes retail copies and sites besides Steam itself. Support the developers and BUY THE GAME!

Thank you for testing and I hope to see you next time.

Archived / JC2-MP is back! [21st of June]
« on: June 21, 2012, 02:30:28 pm »
Over two years ago we set out to turn Just Cause 2 into a multiplayer game. During the course of the two months we spent working on JC2-MP, we were met with many obstacles - which at the time felt impossible to conquer. For the last month we've been working in secret to achieve those goals, with great success. Over the coming months, our aim is to polish the current build to a state that can be released to the public. Contrary to popular conspiracies, we were not shut down by Avalanche Studios. Nor did we intentionally delete our source code to inhibit further growth. The source at the time was extremely unstable and volatile. However this time around, we have squashed all obstacles encountered thus far.

Besides our website, you can also find us on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and IRC at #jc2-mp on irc.freenode.net
