I am truly devastated to hear this news...

I only knew SubZer0 as the cool headed leader of PAROFED that was able to get stuff done. He was always so relaxed and calm when leading the 200+ people around the map. I had huge respect for him in that regard. Sub had a great sense of humour too. He made so many little jokes throughout the road trips and really kept people entertained.

Overall the reason I'm so upset at the whole ordeal is the fact that I met so many of my current friends in this community through the road trips that he organised. He was also one of the first people from here that added me as a friend on Steam way back. I have tons of old footage on my PC from the road trips, and it's sad now to hear him talking to me through Teamspeak, trying to organise the pack of wolves that was the PAROFED group.

Now that Sub has reached the end of his biggest trip yet, I hope that everyone who was on for the ride will remember him.

I'm giving this suggestion a big ole bump.

As a long time PAROFED member and race lover, I have always thought that manual transmission, or "Stick Shift", has been missing from Just Cause 2. I want to be able to go up hills without the risk of Rico deciding "Lets change gear at this worst possible point in time".

The two functions suggested in the title could be sufficient support. A bonus would be a clutch feature, as I know the game already implements engine brakeing (perfect for offroading/driving on ice safely). That could be implemented in lua though if neutral is an option.

If SetGear had arguments as follows:
-1, 0, D (automatic, ie current implementation), 1, 2, 3[, 4, 5 (most cars), 6, 7 (trucks)]
That would do the trick. I think there's already enough in the API to add sequential and H-shifter steering wheel suppot, but I'm not in a position to be 100% sure.

There is quite some demand for this feature. The automatic gear change decisions drive me crazy 90% of the time. Those of us who are interested would most likely start using a steering wheel with flappy paddles/sequential gear sticks/H-Shifters 8). It could allow for the creation of new types of races too, such as hardcore races (no automatic).

Hi all

I've had a joystick and steering wheel sitting on my desk for a while now, using them for games like IL-2 and DiRT, but my recent addiction to Just Cause 2 has made them a little dusty. I decided to look into getting them to work on JC2 with analogue support and working buttons.

Step-By-Step Instructions
1. Get x360ce (just from here:
2. Put the .exe in the archive into your Just Cause 2 (<steam folder>\steamapps\common\just cause 2) folder and run it.
3. A number of dialogues will open. Skim through them hitting yes/next, nothing else. None of it mattters at the moment.
4. You will now see 4 controller tabs at the top of the window, at least one should have a red/green box in its title. Click on whichever one is the game controller you want to use for Just Cause.
5. You should now see and Xbox Controller. Press/turn/twist/roll your game controller.
   - If you see green crosshairs or dots appearing or moving on the controller where you want them to (eg steering axis moves left thumb) skip to step 8
   - If nothing happens, keep reading
6. Clear all the preset controls by selecting "clear" from the drop down box at the bottom of the screen and then clicking "load".
7. For each axis/button on your controller that you want to use you must assign it to the corresponding axis/button on the xbox controller. I'll explain how with an example:
   - Click the first drop down box, which is Left Trigger, and click [Record]
   - Move the part of your controller you want to assign it to. The box will be filled with that axis/button, and it's opposite may be automatically filled in to Right Trigger.
Repeat this for every axis/button you want to set up. You can also select the axis/button manually from the drop down box instead of hitting [Record] if you know what you're doing.
8. Go to the "Advanced" tab. Here you can tweak the dead zones for each corresponding trigger/thumb on the xbox controller. For steering wheels, I suggest 10% Dead Zone on both triggers, 2%-5% dead zone on the Left Thumb and 80% AntiDeadZone.
You can check out the "Force Feedback" tab too. If its already enabled, it will work, but otherwise it probably won't even if you set the values up yourself.
9. Click Save at the bottom right of the window, exit, and launch Just Cause 2 as you normally would. You will hear your windows beep sound, it is just x360ce telling you its working.
10. Have fun with your controller. :D You can use up to 4 controllers and the keyboard at any one time!

For example purposes (or if you have one), I have attached the config for my Thrustmaster RGT Force Feedback Pro Steering Wheel. Put it in your Just Cause folder to use.

1. x360ce.exe crashes on launch.
   - Neutralise all axis on your controller(s) and/or
   - Run the program in compatibility mode for XP Service Pack 3

Definitely going to be making scripts. I have some good ideas already for some things to make stuff I see people doing easier. I have been doing Lua for other things for a while now aswell. :)
