Hey, now, there's no need to be rude. While MrMister is right about most of that not being synced, you can still have your own kind of fun with the unsynced grapples, like seeing what happens when you get in a grappled vehicle that *isn't* synced  :D Anyone else want to add to the list of ways to have fun? There's always things to do!

Currently, Trix has said there won't be a test next weekend, so don't get your hopes up on that  :( The server software will be released with the first official release of JC2-MP - the date for that is currently unknown, however. Sorry to deflate your hopes!

Hehe, there have been a couple threads on this issue. This is just a temporary measure; as you can see, the last test went up to 1,000 players; the devs foresaw the spike in players, and wanted to maintain a relatively sane level of gameplay; for "big tests," hijacking will be disabled - but when JC2-MP is released, you can host your own server and choose to enable hijacking, allowing you to have your own hijinks. There's no official verdict on hijacking, though - it might change, you'll just have to stick around and find out  ;D

That's not exactly a bug... they turned off pausing while in menu.

Yeah, pausing's disabled during the menu, but I still think in-game input should be disabled while in the menu, if possible; many a plane have been lost by many people due to Alt+Tab and Options mishaps. Not really a primary concern though, unlike the sync.

saiberfun is correct, this is functionality that would be left to scripting. Have a look at MTA and SA:MP to see what the JC2-MP devs aim to accomplish; hardcoding functionality like the factions would just be detrimental - allowing people to make their own gamemodes from a perfect base that has nothing else running on it is the best option.

The Black Market is far from working. There's a good reason it's disabled; I've tested playing with it enabled (with a workaround that has now been patched) and car spawns were clientside (nobody else but you could see them, making them utterly pointless), and extraction crashes the game. Every single time. Personally, part of the fun of JC2-MP is realising just how large the map is; as mandella644 said, being able to teleport makes going around the world pretty boring.

Of course, this is just my opinion. This state of events may change in the future; for example, Trix's mass teleports may be refined, but I wouldn't bet on it.

As a Melbournian who's played on every test, I've noticed very little lag. The only indicator of lag can be found in the unsynced animations, like stunt-jumping, but everything else seems rock-solid.

Hey there! I think you asked me a few questions in-game.

  • Sync everything: yeah, they're definitely working on it. Did you see the last update they did before the test? Stunt-jump sync!  :D
  • NPCs: As said before, this is probably unlikely, not just for bandwidth (which is a factor) but also the programming required; the NPCs from singleplayer can't be used, so new AI has to be completely scripted, an endeavour which no-one is willing (or capable) to do.
  • Campaign mode: Even more unlikely than NPCs, sorry to say :(
  • Spawn rate: fair concern; I'm sure something will be done about it.

Vehicle hijacking is a server option. Once JC2-MP 0.1 is released, you'll be able to hijack to your heart's delight in your own server.

The JC2-MP is investigating possible alternative solutions to the hijacking problem; we all know how it feels to be jacked, but we also know the dangers of letting a helicopter run loose. Just give us some time.  ;D

The vehicle hijacking has been temporarily disabled for these tests. Don't worry, when the server's released, hijacking will be an option you can choose; hijacking was just disabled so a 1,000 player server can maintain order. Just you wait!  ;)
